On Sunday, February 4th, 2018, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Lopez Watson-Simms, 19 years of age, of the 5500 block of Cabanne Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri 63112, for one count of Murder in the First Degree, one count of Assault in First Degree, one count of Burglary in the First Degree, and three counts of Armed Criminal Action. Watson-Simms is being held without a bond. A photo of Watson-Simms is attached.
The probable cause statement can be summarized as: During the early morning of October 4, 2017, three masked men entered a residence possessed by Carlos Morris. Carlos Morris was shot and killed during the invasion. Carrion Morris was shot several times and suffered serious physical injury. The three masked intruders were captured on video surveillance entering and leaving the residence in a matter of seconds, during which multiple shots were fired in quick succession. One of the masked intruders can be seen touching the glass storm door upon leaving. The defendant was identified through evidence left at the scene.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
