On April 21, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Keith Hill, 42 years of age, of the 900 block of Burgos Street in St. Louis, Missouri 63138, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Robbery in the First Degree, one count of Burglary in the First Degree, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. Hill is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond. A mugshot of Hill is attached.

The probable cause statement reads: The defendant was the next door neighbor of the victim and confessed to killing the victim and taking the victim’s car, credit cards, and cash. The defendant claimed that a dispute arose when the victim refused to give the defendant money. The defendant stated he forced entry through the victim’s front door; beat the victim to death with a lamp, before taking the victim’s keys, credit cards, cash, and car.

The victim is positively identified as Michael Shaw, 63 years of age, of the 900 block of Burgos Street in St. Louis, Missouri 63138.

The victim’s vehicle was recovered in the City of St. Louis. It was unoccupied at the time.

Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
