On April 12, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Nicholas Washington, 21 years of age, of the 10300 block of Forest Brook Lane in St. Louis, Missouri 63146, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree. Washington is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond. A mugshot of Washington is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: On or about April 4, 2019 Defendant killed Brett Korves by crashing into his car when Defendant was fleeing from the perpetration of the class E felony of Resisting Arrest. Police had attempted to conduct a lawful stop earlier after seeing the Defendant engage in a series of moving violations. However, after the Defendant increased his speed to over 90 mph, due to safety concerns, police terminated the attempt to stop him. After having disengaged the attempt to stop, Defendant continued to flee at excessive rates of speed, drove erratically, and created a substantial risk of serious injury or death to any person. At the intersection of Page and Warson Road, the Defendant, while travelling over 90 mph, crashed into the vehicle of Brett Korves causing his death.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
