On Friday, July 26, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Joshua Harper, 20 years of age, of the 8300 block of Buchanan Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri 63114, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Robbery in the First Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and one count of Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop by Fleeing – Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury/Death to Any Person. Harper is being held on a $250,000 “cash only” bond. A previous mugshot of Harper is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: On July 26, 2019 at 1:00 AM, the defendant shot and killed Arthur Hodges. The defendant took the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. Police tracked the defendant by the victim’s license plate. At or about 6:30 AM, the police chased the defendant and he crashed into another vehicle causing injury to two people. The defendant identification was found at the scene of the shooting. He also was identified driving the victim’s vehicle prior to the crash.
The deceased is positively identified as Arthur Hodges, 49 years of age, of the 10000 block of Valley Drive in St. Louis, Missouri 63137.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
