On Sunday, November 10, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Eric Moore Jr., 26 years of age, of the 10100 block of Newbold Drive in St. Louis, Missouri 63137, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Robbery in the First Degree, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. Moore is being held on $300,000 bond. A mugshot of Moore is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: The Defendant arranged to pay $60 to a prostitute for oral sex via text messages. The Defendant went to the Budget Inn at 1405 Dunn Road to meet with the prostitute. The Defendant gave the $60 to another female in exchange for the sex act in room 235 of the Budget Inn. At some point, the Defendant was upset over the lack of time that he was being given with the prostitute and demanded money back. At the time, the Defendant and three women were in room 235. The Defendant pulled out a firearm and demanded the money from one of the females. The female handed over the money to the Defendant. The females were screaming while this was happening. One of the female’s boyfriends, Darren Woods, was inside room 234, which was an adjoining room. Darren Woods entered the room the Defendant was in and was then shot several times by the Defendant, including multiple times in the head. The victim died at the scene. The Defendant has been identified by the female witnesses. The Defendant fled the scene and was later captured at a residence he shared with his mother. A firearm was recovered at the scene where the Defendant was arrested. Ballistic examination shows the gun recovered from the Defendant’s residence matches the shell casings found at the crime scene. The Defendant was interviewed and admits to pulling out a firearm to get the money from the female. The Defendant admits that he fired the shots that killed Darren Woods.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
