On Wednesday, December 04, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Kenneth Lewis Jr., 21 years of age, of the 1500 block of Champlin Drive in St. Louis, Missouri 63136, for one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Armed Criminal Action, and Stealing – Firearm/Explosive Weapon/Ammonium Nitrate. He is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond, no 10%. A mugshot of Lewis is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: The Victim was the driver in a car. The Defendant was a passenger. A Witness was in the backseat. Security camera shows the Witness get out of the vehicle and walk away. The Defendant stays in the car with the door open. The car then speeds off, the Defendant falls out of the car, and the car crashes. The Defendant runs back to the car, gets in, and starts the tires spinning before he runs into an apartment building. The Victim is found shot dead. A
.22 caliber shell casing is found in the vehicle and a .22 caliber magazine. Police find the Defendant in a nearby apartment. He is in possession of a .22 caliber firearm that is missing a magazine. Located in the car was a receipt that matched that firearm.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
