On Tuesday, December 31, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Joshua Haegle, 17 years of age, of the 3100 block of Chippewa Street in St. Louis, Missouri 63118, for Involuntary Manslaughter First Degree. Haegle is being held without bond. A mugshot of Haegle is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: On July 20, 2019, police were called to an apartment in the City of Riverview in St. Louis County, Missouri, to investigate a shooting that was reported to have occurred the previous evening. When officers arrived, they found the victim in a bedroom in the apartment deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the face. An investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the victim, the defendant, and others had been in the apartment the previous evening socializing in a bedroom when the defendant began playing with a 9mm semi-automatic firearm. The defendant then accidentally discharged the firearm, striking the victim in the face. The defendant and others took off from the apartment leaving the victim behind. The defendant instructed witnesses not to contact the police regarding the shooting. The defendant has been identified as the person committing the offense.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
