On Tuesday, December 13th, 2016, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Rachel Iliff, 36 years of age, of the 3100 block of Lupine Drive in Arnold, Missouri 63010, for one count of Robbery in the 1st Degree. Iliff is being held on a $50,000.00 cash only bond. A photo of Iliff is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: At the 7-Eleven store at 8000 Mackenzie Road in Affton, defendant entered the store and paid for a small amount of gas. She returned to the store a few minutes later. She produced what appeared to be a silver handgun and placed it on the counter, pointing it at the cashier. She said “give me the register or I’ll shoot you in the leg.” The cashier removed the drawer from the register and placed it on the counter. Defendant grabbed all the $1 and $5 bills from the drawer, left the store and drove away. The cashier obtained a partial license plate of the car. The cashier also told police that a witness, a regular customer at the store, had been on the scene at the time of the robbery and might have seen something. Police identified defendant from the license plate number. The witness told police that defendant had approached him outside the store and had a conversation of some length. At one point defendant commented that the cashier was in the store all alone. The witness saw defendant reach into her car for something and then go into the store. The witness identified the defendant from a photo lineup as the woman he had seen outside the store.
Defendant was arrested several days later and confessed to robbing the 7-Eleven. She said the gun she had displayed (and then demanded money) was either an antique gun, a toy gun, or a replica gun, which she said she had found in the trunk of her car.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons conducted the investigation.
