The Public Safety Dispatch Training Academy is six weeks of instruction designed to develop skills necessary to succeed as a dispatcher.
The academy covers a wide array of topics from stress management and verbal judo to the intricacies of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Software .
Once complete, the student will progress to phase II and be assigned a trainer and begin live on the job training. Most trainees complete training within 10-12 weeks, but it will take a year to become proficient in all aspects of dispatch and 911 call taking procedures.
