St. Louis County, MO (July 25, 2024): On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued “at large” charges on suspect Unice Hobby IV, 25 years of age, of the 100 block of Carlyle East in Belleville, Illinois 62221, for Murder First Degree and Armed Criminal Action. A booking photo of Hobby is unavailable as he is currently in jail outside of our jurisdiction. Hobby is being held without bond. Hobby was arrested in Illinois on July 24, 2024.
Please note, charges are merely an accusation and Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The probable cause statement reads: On July 8, 2024, the Defendant and Victim are seen at the Shell station at Lucas and Hunt. The Victim and Defendant exit the vehicle and the Victim turns away from the vehicle as the Defendant begins to fire at the Victim. Victim is shot multiple times and is killed. Defendant's vehicle plates are captured by surveillance footage which tracks to a vehicle registered to the Defendant.
St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are leading this investigation.
St. Louis County, MO (July 9, 2024): The deceased has been identified as Dennis Cooperwood, Jr., 20 years of age, of the 5600 block of Statler Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri 63136.
St. Louis County, MO (July 8, 2024): St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are investigating a homicide at 5215 Lucas and Hunt Road that resulted in the death of an adult male.
At 3:19 p.m., St. Louis County police officers from the Central County Precinct responded to a call for service for a shooting at 5215 Lucas and Hunt Road. An adult male suffered life threatening gunshot injuries in the parking lot. The male was transported to an area hospital for treatment but was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
